Years before becoming House speaker, Republican Rep. Mike Johnson of Louisiana played a leading role aiding Donald Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election. That history will be on display Friday, with Johnson set to deliver remarks alongside the former president about “election integrity” – a phrase Trump often uses to describe the lie that the 2020 election was rigged and unfounded concerns about future mass voter fraud. Johnson carved out an influential role after the 2020 election, helping Trump’s attempts to subvert the will of the people and overturn the legitimate results. He later recruited a majority of House Republicans to endorse a Trump-backed lawsuit seeking to invalidate the results from four key states that Trump lost: Pennsylvania, Georgia, Michigan and Wisconsin. United Airlines – The airline stock popped nearly 5% a day after the company reported higher-than-expected earnings and revenue for the fourth quarter. TKO Group – Shares of TKO Group Holdings rallied 15.8% after announcing a deal to air its WWE flagship program known as "Raw" on Netflix next year. Revenue topped expectations, but earnings fell 6 cents short of analysts' expectations, per LSEG. Verizon posted $1.08 in adjusted earnings per share on $35.13 billion in revenue, while analysts surveyed by LSEG forecasted $1.07 per share in earnings and $34.64 billion of revenue. Procter & Gamble posted mixed results for its fiscal second quarter , topping earnings expectations but falling short on revenue.

CNN —For the second (well-publicized) time in MLB history, an Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher has claimed a sad and unusual feat – accidentally taking out and killing a bird with a throw. D-backs pitcher Zac Gallen was throwing a side session in the outfield ahead of Arizona’s game against the Oakland Athletics in California on Wednesday and managed to inadvertently hit a passing bird with a throw. Unfortunately, the bird reportedly did not survive the encounter, which saw it being hit by a Gallen curveball. The incident was caught on camera, with commentators declaring that “Gallen took some time to recognize that” the bird had died. This comes some 20 years after another infamous avian casualty by throw episode, which saw then Diamondbacks pitcher Randy Johnson take out a bird in a flurry of feathers back in 2001.

Hasbro had cut its sales forecast earlier this month, noting increased consumer sensitivity to higher prices. Goldman Sachs (GS) – Goldman earned $8.25 per share for the third quarter, beating the $7.69 consensus estimate, while revenue topped Wall Street forecasts as well.
